About George
Husband, Cat Dad, Tuba Player, and BBQ Enthusiast, George Palton currently resides in Memphis, TN where he is on the staff at the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis. His formative years were focused on his love of the tuba, primarily performing as a soloist and chamber musician while teaching in a myriad of university and K-12 settings. His diverse collection of experiences led to a transition to an Administrative and Enrollment career in higher education, where he is passionate about facilitating students’ dreams and artistic ambitions.
Throughout his varied career experiences, George’s developmental years as a tubist and music educator shaped his approach to arts leadership. While pushing himself to excel at the tuba as an individual, his goal in a team setting is to make it easier for others to perform at their highest level. Whether it is through the pedagogical exercises found on this website, or streamlining the Admissions and Enrollment process for faculty, staff, and aspiring musicians, his goal as a leader is to put others in a position to succeed.
